NAHB Releases New Housing Favorability Assessment for HBAs
HBAs are all too familiar with barriers to boosting the local housing supply, from impact fees to moratoriums. When it comes down to it, local regulations and unofficial policies that have become “standard practice” play an outsized role in determining how challenging it is to build in a community.
To help HBAs determine if their city or county has a favorable policy and regulatory environment for housing development, NAHB’s State and Local team developed the Housing Favorability Assessment.
The assessment consists of a series of questions related to local residential building policies and regulations, ranging from permits to design standards. Local associations that complete the assessment will learn how their community compares to others and NAHB’s State and Local team will help the association develop a long-term plan to create a favorable housing environment in their community.
